In a Financial Corporation, data is of prime importance. Here, all critical information such as profit and loss accounts, financial transactions, balance sheets and records are recorded and stored in Tally, an accounting software.
However, Tally, like all other software is prone to turning corrupt. Below are the scenarios where your tally data can become corrupt:
1) While working on the tally, the power goes off and you realise that your data has not been saved. Further, when you open tally, the file in which you were working on turns corrupt, and an error message on your laptop or desktop is displayed.
2) Your laptop or desktop is not functioning well and the Operating System is not working properly.
3) You take many backups of the Tally folder but is unable to track the original version.
4) You have a backup but when you try to restore it, all your data gets washed out.

File: ‘C:/Tally/Data/0001/Tr01324.500’
Size; - 43136
Position; 42880
Char; -128 (Done 128)”
Follow the steps below:
1. Open the Tally software then click the ®Company Selection window on the screen.
2. Now use Ctrl + Alt + R key combination to launch the Company Rewrite utility.
3. Select the corrupt company profile (usually the one you were working last) and then press the Enter key to start the rewrite process.
Or,
1) Copy the old data in another drive
2) Then go to the tally data file and delete all. TSF extension files
3) Then restart tally and overwrite the company
Method 2
The second one is when an operating system is not working. The problem occurs when windows is unable to load, in this situation you should boot the system in DOS MODE and keep all tally data folders into D drive. But if the DOS Mode is not working, take off the HDD and connect it to the another computer with the operating system and try to open it. If still does not work you should opt a recovery software before the formatting system.
Method 3
Method 3
The third method is when you work on many versions of tally, (all versions work on different directories) take backup of data directory folders instead of taking backup from tally itself. In that case you might get confused which one is latest and needed to be restored. For this you have to remember the no. of company in tally.
